Beach GTG

We aren't going on a "real" vacation, this year; however, we are already getting plans in place for our (every other year) beach vacation for next summer. It got me thinking. Wouldn't it be fun if we could coordinate a beach vacation for a number of our families? I can only imagine how much fun the kids would have if they could run around the beach with other LO's, not to mention the fun the adults would have. Am I crazy to think we could pull something like this off?

You know that's where we are going! Heck, you even know exactly where we'll be staying! Wink

Honestly, wouldn't it be so much fun? There are usually TONS of condos available @ JR, and the garden condos make for very affordable accommodations. It's not even a bad drive down to Sarasota, and there are a number of airport/airline options for those who would rather fly. Plus, we're thinking about making the drive up to Orlando, for a few days, during the vacation.

    Let's DO this!

    YAY!

  • We went last summer and shared a beach house with our friends that have a son a few months younger than Audrey. It was so awesome. I definitely recommend doing it if you can pull it off. That said, I think the only "fun" vacation we get this year is to Iowa to see DH's extended family. Par-tay!
  • Sounds awesome!  We would be in for Siesta Key, my BIL lives there too :)

YAY! In fact, your mention of Sarasota is what reminded me that I wanted to put this question out there. Smile

I am dying to go this summer, our last vaca was March of last year.  My SIL is due mid June and we keep going back and forth if we should go.  Can't imagine myself on a beach this year in 7 months of big belly glory ;)  Have you driven down there?  I have never made that long of a trip, with or without kiddos.  I thought driving might be too much since I'd have to stop a ton d/t bladder and to walk/stretch, and my OB ok'd me flying, so we shall see.

Yes, we (DH, SIL, and I) drove down, last year. J flew with my parents and my sister. It wasn't that bad at all; however, I'm not sure how adding children to the mix might influence my opinion. Stick out tongue

  • Sounds fun! Although we need to have a GTG with spouses before then.... I would have to trick my H into it for sure if he wasn't going to know anyone! "Oh, TTT.. Fancy meeting you here, all the way down in FL.. I had NO idea" Lol :)

HA! I was definitely going to just go the route of *surprising* DH. The funny part is, he'd probably buy it. It's CRAZY how many people, from Cincinnati, vacation in Siesta Key. We almost always run into other Cincinnatians while we are there.

  • I love Siesta Key/Sarasota my sister lives there and my In-laws live in Tampa so I love summer vacation. We usually spend about 2 weeks there and I am so ready to go now. We make the drive every year and it is really easy just straight down 75 and you are there.

I love the idea of a beach GTG.  My DH would think I'm a nut job for wanting to go on a vacay with a bunch of internet friends....so I agree with J&B!  The only vacay we'll be affording this year is to sit around our new AC unit and sip on cheap beer.  So I'm all about a big, fun beach trip next year.

Miranda - we drove to Daytona last year with DS.  I was 24ish weeks along.  It was totally doable.  We broke it up into 2 days down and 2 days home.  The thought of flying with 2 and all their crap makes me a little nauseous.

  • Can I nominate myself to be group babysitter and leave my DH at home? Just kidding. Sort of. Wink
