I can only speak for myself, but it comes down to time. Time is precious and sometimes the actual dollar amount jarred food costs is ctually less than the time/effort it takes to make one's own food.
I made all of DD #1's food. It was great. Easy. No issues. When #2 arrived 18 months later, time was scarce. I fed her jarred food for the short period of time she would eat it - once she saw big sister eating real food, it was all over - she wanted the real deal! Her appetite was impressive then and is still impressive now - she is an EATER!
I have not made up my mind about #3 yet. We'll see how it all plays out - I didn't have anywhere to be with my first two kids - now we have preschool, ballet, tee ball, etc. Crazy!
