Update to my toddler weaning post

Alex did get a short nap yesterday - in the car - so he wasn't quite as miserable as he otherwise would have been. I on the other hand though I was going to die. Alex only nurses on the left side, so my right side has been dry for quite some time. By yesterday morning, my left side was so engorged and painful that I fully expected it to explode in a horrific milky explosion when Alex got mad and head butted me in the chest. Crying

I broke down yesterday evening and busted out the manual pump. I gave Alex a few ounces in a sippy cup at bedtime, and while he wasn't thrilled with it, he decided it was better than nothing. I also switched sides on the bed so I was not laying in the normal "nurse to go to bed" position. He woke up once around 2 am, and I gave him barely two ounces of breastmilk in the sippy cup. He fussed when the cup was empty, but I patted his back, and he curled up again and went back to sleep.

And that was IT. He only got up ONCE last night!!!

He brought me the sippy cup this morning and asked for more, but I told him no, it was only at bedtime. I wasn't planning to offer milk in a sippy cup, but it prevents me from being miserably engorged, and it helps him go to sleep. I figure I can gradually cut down the amount in the cup until he's just getting an ounce or two when he first goes to bed. Yes
