Double stroller question - needed?

DD and new baby will be 4 1/2 years apart. I was wondering - those of you with kiddos of about the same span - did you bother getting a double stroller? DD still loves to ride in the BOB - and it's nice to have to help contain her - but I wonder how much longer she'll do that. Love the Double Bob - but yeesh, I had NO idea how expensive they were.

Do you think it's worth getting the double? Any other brand suggestions for those of you that have them other then the Bob if we decide to get one? Or is it time to tell the 4 1/2 year old no more stroller, it's time to walk :)

TIA!

Re: Double stroller question - needed?

  • Nope, you don't need a double Bob, and you definitely don't want to check CL for it either ;-)
Sorry, just trying to up my chances for finding one!

But seriously, I'm not sure what I would do with that age difference.  Ours will be 25 months apart, and I'm not planning on having an 'everyday' double stroller.  We just plan to get a double Bob and use it for the trails and in cases when we would need both kiddos in a stroller.  Otherwise, I just plan on wearing the baby and keeping C in the single 'everyday' stroller.  Hope that helps!

  • I bought the Bumbleride Indie because my kids were 19 months apart and I LOVE it but honestly I could have sold it once Emma turned a little after 2 and just got one of the things that attaches to the stroller that they can ride on. She HATES going into the stroller because "Only babies have to be in strollers". With that said I wold skip the double if you kids are 4 1/2 years apart.
  • I got the Baby Jogger City Select, and I love it. It can be converted from a single to a double, so you have options as to how the kids will ride on any given day. My kids are 17.5 months apart, so I had to have an actual seat for DD when DS was born. If she had been a little older, I would have considered a sit 'n stand. That would be a good option for you since your DD is older. She would have a place to stand and ride or sit if she wants.

  • With that age gap, I'd look at the sit and stand strollers.

  • I have a friend out here that says the people she knows with a single bob, just let the bigger kid sit on the front where the feet go if they get tired.
