Ethan's been taking Zantac twice a day for about two months now for his reflux. It seemed to be working well but we've recently noticed an increase in his symptoms. I called his pedi about it yesterday and she advised me to stop giving it to him in his bottle and try it just straight into his mouth for a few days. If that doesn't seem to make it better, she wants to switch him to Prevacid. I was curious if anyone else has gone through this with reflux? Ethan's had zero side effects or weirdness with the Zantac and I'm just a little nervous about starting a new med, I guess.

Re: Anyone's LO on Prevacid?
We did Zantac at first, and it worked for awhile but we had to constantly up the doseage since it is so heavily weight based and then it basically stopped working.
Prevacid is working approximately a million times better.
This makes me feel a lot better, thanks. That's my thing with the Zantac, the whole weight-based thing. He gains weight so fast I feel like, and I'm constantly calling the pedi telling her, he's this weight now, do we need to change the dosage, etc.
We were on Zantac until about 7 months at which point the dose could not get any higher so we switched to Prevacid. It definately reigned in the symptoms but now at 9 months I feel like we need to re-evaluate but I am sure it is because she has gained a pound or two.
I like that Prevacid is only once a day dosing v multiple times a day.
I dislike that you have to shake it so hard to get it to mix (it is a compound medecine) and that it requires refrigeration.
We were the same way except using Axid. DS would be good for about two weeks and then it would stop working. We switched to Prevacid pretty quick and it has been wonderful.
