Hello!
I had a D&C on Monday after a missed m/c. I know doctors usually recommend waiting at least 1 cycle before trying again. I'm just wondering if anyone has conceived before getting a regular period? Thanks for any input. I hope to be joining you ladies here with good news in the coming months! ![]()
Re: Anyone pregnant RIGHT after D&C?
Why would you want to go against medical advice (someone who has been to school for this sort of thing) and would rather trust the advice of an internet stranger who would tell you to get KUed before your dr says it's safe?
Side note....while we are pregnant after a loss here, we don't yet have take home babies yet. Sooooo.....it would stand to reason that if anyone replies to this thread saying "yes, I got KUed before my first AF after my D&C", there's no assurance that she won't miscarry the very next week....KWIM?
Just wait your one cycle to give your ute the best chance to support a fragile a new life. It's not that long. Really.

I got pg again right after my m/c but I did NOT have a D&C. I had an uncomplicated, natural m/c around 6 weeks that was basically like a heavy period. I'm guessing because it was so early, my body just went back to normal right away.
That being said, I would definitely not try right after a D&C. I've heard that since they scrape the lining of your uterus it is thinner than normal and that is why you need a couple of cycles for it to build up again. Otherwise it's not a great environment to start a new egg in.
(Also, as pp mentioned, I am only 11 weeks, while things look good so far, who knows...)

Yes there are people on here that went against their doctor's orders and got pregnant right away but honestly that's not a great idea. There is a higher chance for miscarriage because your uterus hasn't had a chance to fully heal and may not be able to support a new life in it.
I had a natural m/c last year in April(exactly a year today) and it took us a while to get pregnant again and I'm glad it did because emotionallly I wasn't ready for another pregnancy before I had fully mourned my lost baby.
Listen to your doctor they know what's best their the one with the degree, if their telling you to wait it's probably in your best interest to wait.
This exactly.
We were told to wait 3 cycles post my D&C and as much as we didn't want to, we trusted the doctor and waited. It's hard, I know it can be, but the wait can be totally worth it when you have a successful pregnancy the next time. Listen to your doctor.
I had to wait 3 cycles, and it was hard, and I wanted to ignore my doctor but I'm glad I didn't. Imagine the guilt you'd feel if you didn't listen and had another loss because your body wasn't ready.
Don't ignore medical advice. Your doctor told you that for a reason. Besides after that type of surgery you shouldn't have anything in your vagina for several weeks because of the risk of infection, which would make conception quite difficult.
I didn't have a D&C but I did get pregnant right after my miscarriage (certainly not trying too though) because of that I think I am even more scared than normal since I know we should have waited.
I would think after a D&C since the lining of your uterus is so thin it's not a good idea. I would defintely take your doctors orders, they don't just say things for no reason.
Part of the reason they want you to wait is so that your lining can build back up good and thick, as it's all wiped/thinned out after a D&C. There are some things that you can do to strengthen your ute/lining while waiting to O - I did both of these and think they helped a LOT. First, you can drink Red Raspberry Leaf tea, and second you can drink pomegranate juice or take pom pills (I took the pills 3-4 a day, because I don't like the juice). I swear that the pom helped me a ton - even right after the D&C my lining was always nice and thick.
What I was told by OB. I was to wait TTC after 2 menstrual cycles
