Anyone want to talk about 16 & Pregnant?

I can't remember when the season started or if this was the first episode but I just watched the one where the mom is an identical twin.  Holy hell.  I know that twins have a unique bond but the non-mom twin is crazy!  She can't stand that her sister is doing something without her.  I'm sure it's an adjustment but it just reinforces why I think it's important for my boys to be their own people and not just a twin.  (I don't even know if that made sense)  Aside from that, the story seems pretty "normal."  Well, as normal as 16 & Pregnant can be.  The dad is very invovled and there is a lot of family support.  I am confused because he wears a band on his left ring finger but they aren't married.

The previews for next weeks show looks interesting to say the least.

  • They both had rings on--I actually noticed hers first.  They didn't even mentioned being engaged.

The non-pregnant twin was super annoying, but I kept reminding myself that she is a 16 year old girl, and overdramaticness (not a word, but well) is their speciality.

The one thing that bothered me, was I thought she said she waited like a month or 6 weeks before she actually took the baby to be checked out by a doctor, when he was showing all the signs of reflux.  Not that she would have known about reflux, but SOMEONE in that house should have known that something wasn't right with that baby.  Poor thing!

  • I actually felt bad for the non-pregnant twin. My sister and I aren't twins, but we grew up like twins (10 months apart). She got pregnant at 19 and I had some of those same feelings. I felt like she was replacing me. I obviously never threw fits like that about them, but if she would have told me I wasn't allowed in the birth room because my nieces father says no, I would have been heartbroken.

ALL of this!! I felt for that poor baby - probably was in so much pain from the reflux.

I was impressed though with how involved the father was in the picture- that was great!!

Also liked that they talked birth control at her follow up appointment - let's just hope she uses it!!

I also liked that she was breast feeding - hardly ever see on Teen Mom.

I was glad they allowed her in the delivery room.  I was mad when the dad tried to keep her out.  I also think had the tables been turned, the pregnant one would have acted the exact same way.

I agree about the twin sister being annoying.  For once it seemed like the parents were trying to do the right thing, and she just wanted it to be all about her...hello! It is not about you anymore...it is about a baby coming into this world.  i do have to agree though about having the twin sister in the room because they were so close and her sister wanted her there.  I think the boyfriend was just trying to be a PITA in that case.

I also can't believe they waited 6 weeks to have him checked out.  Maybe it is just because I noticed it right away because I am a nurse and I know more...but I felt awful, and it was just obvious from the very beginning.

  • I thought the twin dynamic was really interesting.  I liked it because I feel like this show glamorizes teen pregnancy, and I felt like this was a special situation where as soon as Jordan had her baby... she immediately sees in her sister the freedom that she's lost. Her sister is still able to act like a teen and just be carefree, and I just felt like it made it more obvious just how much a baby changes your life.

  • I think the dad and non-pregnant twin were both fighting for the mom's attention.  The worse part is it isn't about either of them - it's about the baby.  I know they are immature and it was a big change for everyone.  When the mom said something to her sister about how she has to be a mom first it made me feel like she was getting her priorities straight.
