Tips for getting LO to take meds

For the first year of her life, DD was an excellent medicine taker. She would drink absolutely anything you offered her in a syringe or medicine dropper and she would do it with gusto. Even her oral vaccines she just drank up (but apple gripe water was her favorite Big Smile). Now, not so much. She absolutely refuses anything given to her. Turns her head, clenches her jaws shut, puts her hands in her face. Any wonderful ideas for helping make this part of our day not so traumatizing?

  • Other than the holding them down and shoving the dropper in their mouth giving it to them in a little cup might help. For some reason if I serve it to them in a little cup (a shot glass) they willingly drink it.

  • We have to mix it in with her milk (I hope that doesn't mess with the effectiveness). She refuses any medicine (out of a dropper, cup, etc.) and will spit it out if we force it into her mouth.

We recently switched to melt away tablets for her allergy meds and she loves them. Last night she was begging for more and threw a fit when she couldn't have more.
