When we moved to Orlando last year, we started going to a fertility specialist. Yay! I'm pregnant now!
He only sees women through their first trimester, so I want to be working on who to go to for the rest of the pregnancy. This is all so new to me, and being new to Orlando, there aren't lots of moms to ask advice from.
I know Winnie Palmer is apparently the best place to deliver (why?)... but I really have no idea about ob/gyns in the area. I'm in east Orlando and would love to find someone to go to out here for ease of appointments, but insurance has been a pain. (Not to mention they only list the actual doctors in the provider book, so I still don't know which are groups or individual doctors!!)
So I'd love your thoughts about any info you can give me to help me get my feet wet!
Thanks!!
Re: How does this whole "having a baby" thing work?? (Orlando)
This is where I go https://www.obandgyn.cc/
I usually see Paula Mix an np there. I have seen quite a few of the doctors as it is a group practice.
They deliver at Winnie Palmer. I had my 3 year old at Winnie and it was awesome granted I can't compare it to any other hospital as that is the only one that I have given birth at. I am going to be having my second child there this Sept.
Hi! I was also in my first trimester when my husband and I moved from NY, and had no idea of where to go for care, where to deliver, etc. We're in the Lake Nona area, and Dr. Emma Fritz has a location that is nearby (Delaney OB) and she was very nice, and delivers at Winnie Palmer. I decided I wanted to go with a birthing center & so have since transferred care. If I were to have gone through with a traditional OB, hospital birth I would've felt very comfortable staying with Dr. Fritz.
I can say that I was not high risk and was not ignored at all! I did not have a c-section nor was that ever even brought up to me. I thought it was amazing care for myself and for my baby.
I wasn't saying that it's definitely like that at Winnie Palmer. That's just what I had heard from friends. I've only been in the waiting room at Winnie, so I have no clue what delivering there is like. I'm glad you had a good experience. I had a hard time deciding not to deliver there. It had been my first choice, but ultimately I am glad I delivered at Celebration.
I live in east Orlando and just gave birth a few weeks ago. I highly highly recommend Dr. Ingrid Dunn. She is absolutely amazing. I ended up having a high risk pregnancy and being hospitalized and she referred me to another amazing doctor, Dr. Al-Malt from Fetal Diagnostics Center. Dr. Dunn came and saw me at the hospital, even though I was being seen by the high risk doctor, she was there for my delivery, even gave me her private cell number in case I needed anything. Shes a great OBGYN, a wonderful caring person! Her office is located in Avalon Park. Here is her information:

I will also be delivering at Celebration Health. I don't live in the community, but do work here. My OB is also at a Place for Women and it's literally right across the street from my job. I've heard great things about Celebration Hospital and plan on taking a visit there soon. We live closer to the airport, but the hospital is only about 20 mins on the highway from us. You just have to find what works for you. Definitely check into all your options!
Hope this helps
I have to say the best is Celebration Hospital. I had both of my babies there. The second he wanted to come out early I was hospitalized 4 times with bed rest and their treatment I was able to deliver passing the 35 weeks. My primary doc. told me Celebration did a good job on helping me to hold the baby until passing the 35 weeks that if I would have been at another hospital Winnie would have delivered my baby before the 35 weeks. this is my experience so I can only tell you my oppinion.
Dr. Marcantel and Dr. Brandy Kim delivered my babies but Brandy Kim is not longer at that practice.
CONGRATS on your pregnancy! I get that== how does this "whole thing" work.. I have those same feelings and I grew up in WP. I recommend OBGYN Maitland Care Group---great staff, very friendly and smaller practice.. good luck and congrats! I am 24 weeks along with a girl..
I go here too! They are awesome! I love the doctors, nurses, and staff.
I go here, as well, and also love them! I had a great experience at Winnie and I'm looking forward to delivering there again next March
I just noticed that a bunch of people had recently posted! Thanks, everyone!
We ended up with Dr. Lamberty off of Lee Vista - my previous doctor recommended him as someone similar in practice to himself. He delivers at Winnie (yay!). So far, we like him a lot... but the nurses leave a little to be desired sometimes, as it takes them a long time to return calls, even though the message says they always return calls within 24 hours. But that's my only complaint thus far! The doctor is really personable, never makes us feel like he's in a rush - even though we saw him the day after his vacation, the office was running late, and he was seeing us around 5:15 pm! Great guy!
Now I'm just hoping that our insurance works out. Ever since I had a minor surgery in December and we got lots of surprise bills, I'm a bit scared to do anything that involves our insurance!
