When I found out I was pregnant they said I was already at about 11 weeks going off of the last time i had been in the hospital in December I was on my period and told them I couldn't remember if I had a period in January as my periods were still very irregular at this point. They said that I had to be 11 weeks because my HGC levels were right on target for that as my conception date. At 17w2d I paid to have a gender ultrasound at one of those specialty 3D/4D places because my insurance wouldn't give me one until 21 weeks. When we started the ultrasound the woman said my baby was no larger then 12 weeks in size at the biggest probably more accurately at 11 weeks. When I went to my first Dr. appt. she thought I was carrying twins. The ultrasound tech at the specialty place told me that what could have happened was that I had the vanishing twin syndrome. I consulted my Dr. but she didn't seem concerned and just told me we'll talk at it again at my "20 week" appt. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I'm concerned there could be something wrong with my baby, or should I just switch Doctor's regardless?

Re: Confusion on my due date?
It sounds like a very interesting situation...
I would be concerned. If your doctor doesn't listen - I would switch.
btw, when you are uncertain about when your LMP was - they usually do a dating ultrasound (early on).
Thats kind of strange, with your periods being irregular i'm surprised they didn't do a dating ultrasound in the first place, and more surprised that after that happened, they were so nonchalant about it.
No experience with this, I was sure when my last period was, and they still made me do a dating ultrasound at my first appt. If I were you I'd be looking for a different doctor for sure.
Good luck with everything.

I would switch! If your Dr. isn't taking your concerns serious why would you keep going there for more of the same BS?
Switch practices- preferably one with in house U/S - they are more likely to use it...
Yeah I would switch dr's!! I had no idea when I could have conceived because my periods were so irregular. According to my LMP when I got the + pee stick I would have been around 10 weeks. I told my OB that and she wanted to have a look, did an u/s, and found out I was only 5! They did another u/s at my 2nd appt and baby was progressing nicely at 9 weeks.
They should have DEF gave you an u/s after you told them about the elective place. I would be calling other dr's today because that seems like craziness to me.
this
I also have irregular MPs due to a thyroid condition. When I went to my first appointment, I told the PA about this and she immediately scheduled me for a "dating u/s." I was only 2 days off from when I thought we may have conceived.
I'm sorry you're going through this and would definitely recommend finding a different doctor asap! try to find some of the fellow moms in your area for suggestions.
GL and best wishes that everything is ok with your LO.
