How do I do this??? She flipped out at the sight of the tweezers and got herself so upset she is actually napping and hasn't napped once in the last year. SHe is hysterical at the thought. Flailing screaming... I definitely can't do it alone. What's your tool of choice?

Re: Getting a splinter out!!
where is it at?
hand or foot?
i used to hate getting splinters taken out on me as a kid. my mom said i was the worst of all her kids.
but i remember what helped alot was she would soak my hand or foot in warm soapy water. and then with her hands try to work it out. sometimes it worked but other times she still needed to use the tweezers.
good luck!
This might sound weird and she probably wouldn't sit still for it (my DD wouldn't, but an older child might)...Elmer's glue! Put a thin layer over the splinter and let it dry. Peel it off when it is dry and most of the time the splinter comes out stuck to the glue.
Worked like a charm on my 3 year-old niece a couple of months ago. My ILs and DH were extremely skeptical until it actually worked. hahaha!
Hmm. I'll have to see if any of it is sticking (haha) out. I was thinking along the same lines- tell her I'm putting a bandaid on it and get the adhesive on the splinter and then rip it off... I'll just tuck this in the trick bag- I'm sure it's nontoxic, but if animal by-productucts are used in glue, any chance of salmonella or anything since it's going into an inflamed, open area??
You will want to put neosporin and a band-aid on this anyway, once you get the splinter out. The splinter itself is probably dirty anyway.
Thanks, I did put some rubbing alcohol on it. For some nonsense reason I haven't put neosporin on it because I don't want to facilitate the healing before DH gets home and we can get it out. I'm pretty sure that's silly but in my mind, I envision it healing up in 7 seconds if I put neo on it. I sometimes think it's a wonder I've kept the 3 of them alive and well for as long as I have- I am so stupid about the silliest of things- LOL!
I read something similar involving scotch tape. Not tried and true (on my part anyway). So funny. DD had 4 in her hand at the daycare yesterday, but they did tweezers and bribed her with a lollipop.

Thanks, we are hoping for this.. but did make a baaking soda paste and put it on and bandaged it up. Fingers crossed...
