Angelcare Monitor?

Does anyone have an Angelcare Monitor?  Love it or hate it?

Our LO may be discharged tomorrow and will not be sent home on an Apnea monitor.  I think we may want the peace of mind of having a movement monitor but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

We have a Summer Infant monitor that we could exchange for the Angelcare.

Thank you!

Re: Angelcare Monitor?

  • I have one and love it!  It was nice peace of mind when she was an infant.  I like that it is a sound monitor, breathing monitor and monitors room temp (her room gets hot when the door is shut).

DD is 14 months and we still use it with her.  She rolls off the sensor more now, but I like having it because she keeps trying to climb out of her crib.  If I don't hear the thump then the alarm will go off and I can run in and check on her.

  • I'm not getting one because I heard the false alarms are really upsetting.  Our baby will sleep on his back, we'll make sure he's not overheated and no one will smoke around him. Beyond these things, I'm not going to let worrying about SIDS get to me.
  • mbgreenwalt - which model do you have?
  • I am debating the same thing..... I bought a video monitor and i just returned it to buy the NEW angelcare model which is a video/movement monitor with room temp and a walkie talkie feature so you can calm the baby from anywhere in your house....

then i get myself thinking that $300 is a waste. I think im going to use a 20% and 10% completion discount and buy it. It looks very nice and i hear that if you set it properly you wont get many false alarms. (which apparently takes some time)

    I dont know....

  • We got a Snuza Halo monitor instead of an Angelcare monitor and have been VERY happy with it. It clips onto DD's diaper, so she's got it on no matter where she is (swing, bouncy, pnp, etc.) Whereas the Angelcare isn't mobile like that.

We haven't had any false alarms.

ETA: We also have a Levana video monitor. With these two combined, we feel pretty comfortable. :)

  • We had gotten an Angelcare monitor but after we hooked it up there was constant buzzing noise.  We are going to return it and figure something else out. Have others had this problem?

Does anyone have the new Angelcare video/movement monitor already?  I'm wondering if it makes the same buzzing noise?  It was going to drive my husband nuts!

     TIA!
