Roomba

I hate cleaning my floors.  Between the dog and the kids and living in the middle of a wooded area, my floors are always filthy.  The room that gets it the worst is my living room/kitchen.  Most of that room is bamboo or tile, but I do have a large rug.  In an ideal world I'd vacuum and mop daily, but let's face it...that's never going to happen.  Somebody told me to get a Roomba for vacuuming.  How does it work?  Do you like it?  Is there anything that would mop automatically?

Re: Roomba

  • We have one - I hate it - doesn't do a great job and has to run when I'm not there.  The sound of it drives me batty...ours now sits defunct under our bed.  I would donate it but my hubby loves it (even though he doesn't USE it).  We just sweep daily.

They DO make a mopping one...

  • I have a Scooba (it "mops" and vacuums).  I love it because it saves me a ton of time and does an awesome job.  My downstairs is all hardwood floors and is fairly large so I have to divide it into 2 sections.  There are a couple cons though: 1. It's a little loud so I usually run it when I'm upstairs or on my way out 2. It takes awhile to fully charge again so if I wanted about 1500 sq feet cleaned in one day I'll start the first session in the morning then clean and charge it back up for a session in the evening. 3. You have to clean it after every use (my husbands complaint, it really only takes a couple minutes)
