So we left Korea on the 30th of March. We had a 10 hour flight to San Francisco, a two hour layover to get our bags and pets, headed back through security, the boarded another 5 hour flight to Baltimore. The first flight was wonderful since it was at night, LO slept mostly the whole time. The second flight was horrid. LO was cranky, DH and I couldn't sit together, and I was horribly airsick. LO wouldn't nurse on landing, so she screamed the last half hour of the flight. We finally landed, drove 5 hours to Pittsburgh, stayed there for four days, drove 2.5 hours north to my hometown, spent a week there, drove 2 hours to Cleveland, spent a week there, then drove twenty-two freaking hours to Colorado. TWENTY-TWO hours. In a car. With a screaming, teething infant. If she wasn't sleeping, she was screaming. It was Hell. About halfway through, I was selfish and gave her some Benadryl. I feel horrible for medicating her, but it wasn't fair to let her scream for so long. She takes one look at her carseat now and starts screaming. I am so tired of being in a car, I may scream if I have to travel more than ten seconds. The upside is that we are finally here and won't have to travel for three-ish years. Thank Jeebus.
So anyways... what did I miss around here!?
Re: NEVER again. Ever.
Anyways, I am sorry you had such a horrible experience.. That is a lot of traveling for such a young baby, she must've been tired as well.
Glad you're home.. Relax & have a glass of wine.
Let me clarify. We had been giving her Tylenol. She wasn't screaming because of the teething, she was screaming because she had been strapped in a car seat for three days straight. I only gave her Benadryl as a very last resort.
Why would you feel terrible for medicating her? She was obviously in pain from her teething, and I'm sure her body was sore/stiff from the carseat, too. We recently took only a 3 hour trip to attend a funeral and it was a weird, really quick ceremony and we basically had to get back in the car and drive 3 hours back after an hour and a half. G was MISERABLE until we gave him some Tylenol.
