Random ? How do you store shoes/clothes longterm?

SO I recently was given a carload of hand-me-downs size 3-6x. I sorted everything by size, put it in tightly sealed garbage bags inside boxes and put them up in the attic for when DD is big enough to start wearing them. Is that a good enough way to store clothes?

The main ? I have is how to store all of the shoes I was given. The mom apparently had a shoe issue and spend hundreds of dollars on shoes - most are still in like new condition. How should I store these? I'd like a way to put them in the attic as our closet space is very limited, but with the hot summer heat, I'm afraid it will ruin the leather. Should I bag/box them? Any other ideas/tips?

  • For the clothes I store them in tupperware boxes and label them with the sizes. For shoes I get the shoe boxes from Target ($.99) and store them in there.

  • I'm a big fan of space bags. I've got all of DS's clothes from NB-18 mos in them under our guest bed. Shoes and other stuff that wouldn't work in space bags go in a tub in DS's closet. We store out holiday decorations in tubs in the attic and I'm always finding bugs in them when we get them down, so I try to keep his clothes sealed really well.

this, but it's hit or miss if they actually keep the seal.  at least for me.  but maybe they only last a few times, I've used them the past 2 times we've moved so maybe I need to start replacing them...
