DH and I were going through an old baby name book for fun and I read this one off and he really liked it. I'm not sure. How do you feel about it? NN Demi. I'm not usually a nn fan, but I'm sort of ok with this one, it does sould kine of like "dummy" though. Am I overthinking?
ETA: We have a fairly Greek last name too (DH is 50% Greek).
Re: Demetria?
It's kind of a mouthful and harsh on the ears.
I think it's beautiful. I had a college roommate named Demetria and she rocked. And the fact that it's derived from the name of an Earth Goddess is even cooler.
I don't think it's a mouthful at all. No more than "Olivia" or "Amelia" or any other name that's so popular these days. I guess it's a "mouthful" if your idea of a name is Kaylee or something, though. ;-)
Beautiful name )
WHen I read the title I thought it said dementia...sorry, I know that's harsh, and maybe it's just early and I haven't had enough coffee....
I think it is lovely.
"Dementia" is the obvious tease/nn/drawback. I think that Demetra makes the "dementia" connection less obvious.

I think it sound like a weird illness or something. Sorry, just being truthful.

Sorry.
My thoughts exactly.

I love it! This spelling only.
Demitrea looks like it should be pronounced dem-ih-TRAY-uh to me.
I've never heard of Demetra.
I give it a NO.
