Meh. It was an okay way to kill some time during the day, but that obviously doesn't apply to someone who isn't looking to kill hours during the day. I thought it was pretty spendy for what we got and sometimes the cheesy factor made me feel a little sad inside.
But I do agree with boj, some are better than others. No-go on the S. Lamar location, better experience at the one off Anderson Ln.

We go and I really like it. DD gets really antsy hanging out at home, so I like that we have an activity for her that we can do. And she likes seeing the other kids. And I like seeing other moms You get unlimited classes until 10 or 11 months old, so that's cool too. We've been going twice a week lately.
We really liked it when my ds was younger. I really only think it's worth the price if your going to go to the open gym times also. We would do our one class a week and then go to open gym 2-3 times a week sometimes so we got a lot out of it. And I agree you need to find a good teacher.
I definitely recommend them but agree that it probably depends on the teacher. DD & I love the teacher at the location we go to (she's been going since 10 months old). He was out for a couple of weeks and there was a sub and it sucked BIG time.
I've also taken her to swim classes at the YMCA and that was also fun.
We're doing a music together class and DS loves it. He kinda looks around dumbfounded at first but smiles a lot and loves looking at the other kids. I even bought him a maraca for home and he LOVES it more than any other toy he's got. Tonight he figured out that he can use old Gerber container as a drum and would not stop smiling.

i enjoyed it for a short time. i just needed somewhere to go with her! if you don't have other gtgs to go to, then i think it's a good way for you to start getting out. otherwise, i think going to library times, baby gtgs or playdates will fill that need too.
i've never been to one, but what is your goal in going? does alice need a friend? cuz i know a little december baby that gets totally sick of her big sisters and needs someone else to talk to about head control and core strength...

ooohh... Alice LOVES to talk about head control.
I guess my goal would be to learn songs maybe learn a few more ways to play with A. I feel like I sing the same 4 songs to her and I am running out of impromptu variations for those songs ("patty cake patty cake baker's man, Make daddy change Alice's diaper as fast as you can"). Its just been a long time since I was a baby and I don't remember what I liked.

Maybe you and A could teach us some new songs.
You should get a Music Together cd. My kids love that sh*t, and there are a few old-school ditties (like, from the 18th century) that I even like. My younger one and I went to the classes on Saturday mornings last fall, and she loved it. I found it unbearably goofy, but I got over it once I saw how happy she was. That said, it was pricey, and just playing the CD during our commutes has gotten us a lot of...err...mileage.

as long as you're sure alice wouldn't be traumatized by me re-enacting 'little bunny foo foo' with eve's bunny lovey and bopping the crap out of some imaginary field mice heads...

Nah, not worth the $$$ IMO. But the YMCA swim classes were awesome!
