Update to DSS & Custody Battle

I didn't want to post anything here until I knew what direction we were heading with all of this...

We hired an attorney and had her served a couple of weeks ago with a petition stating we wanted to work things out amicably but that we were requesting primary custody without child support. I got a couple of weird texts from her mom asking for our address so our lawyer advised that we move forward and schedule a hearing quickly. She was served with an order to appear. We still heard NOTHING until on Friday she finally contacted our attorney stating she didn't want to fight it. She consulted with an attorney who basically told her that her case looks bad and she didn't hire him but is going to pay him to look over the document we sent. Braxton happened to tell us some dangerous activities she engaged in while he was there over Spring Break so we are glad we've gone this route. We worked with our attorney and drafted what we were asking for and are sending it to her today. T&P she just signs it and accepts it. We didn't put anything in there that was unreasonable and it was all for his best interest (ie: that she be required to provide him his own bed, that if she goes 3 mons without seeing him she have day-only visits for 2 weeks before resuming her normal weekends) and we're not requesting child support. We want her to be in his life but we want it to be where it's not disrupting his. Maybe this will actually get her motivated to start seeing him regularly. Doubtful - but maybe. I'm hoping she accepts it as-is so we can move forward with this. I don't think she'll want to keep paying the attorney she's meeting with to continue changing it. So yay! Hopefully this will all be over soon and DSS can continue on his life in a more stable way.

That sounds like good news! I'm so glad it sounds like she's not going to fight it and that she's starting to see the best place for your DSS is with you guys. I hope she gets her act together, but I'm glad it seems like it's all going to work out soon.

I'm glad she's (hopefully) thinking about what is best for your DSS. I'm glad it sounds like the whole process is going smoothly and hope that it continues that way.
