Houston Babies

Looking for a good Dr.

Unfortunately the wonderful doctor that helped us get pregnant does not deliver babies.

Anyone have recommendations in the Houston area, especially on the west side?

I want somebody who is happy to answer questions and won't fixate on my plus size.

Re: Looking for a good Dr.

  • I felt the same way about my RE.  DH and I loved her and I wished she could have delivered my baby too :)

Premier Ob/gyn in Katy is who I use and really like my Dr. (Schmidt).  I have also heard good things about Patronella.

  • I love Dr. Gogola at Greater Houston OBGYN (at Memorial Hermann  Memorial City, by the mall).  I've had a problematic pregnancy and he is great.  Several other nesties use him, too.

  • I used to go to Dr Schmidt at Premier and just changed over to Dr Bethany Peterson.  Dr Schmidt was not compassionate at all during my loss and had very little information to provide.  I completely felt like a number at her office.

Dr Peterson on the other hand, who ironically I met today, was extremely informative and educated.  I know not everyone's needs are the same, but Dr Schmidt never even said she was sorry about my loss and that was the first thing that Dr Peterson said to me.

  • I've seen many OB's in Houston.  Started period at 6 years old and been bounced around.  I've mainly used Dr. Michael Allon since he started. I wish he delivered babies still.  The doctors I've had horrible experiences with: Dr Schmidt and Dr. Andrews.  I ended up needing another surgery after Dr. Schmidt got done with me...damaged my cervix, and Dr. Andrews recommended a hysterectomy for severe PCOS (she was very quick and to the point about it, and didn't even do an exam).  In my opinion that practice is for delivering babies only and not problems.  I saw Dr. Tal twice and he is not someone I'd recommend but he's not terrible.  Dr. Allon referred me to Dr. Kirshon at Houston Perinatal Associates. It's a high risk group in the med center.  I was annoyed that there was an application process (quick and easy) but the doctor has to be sure he can deliver you.  I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and gastro problems, and started out over weight.  Love love love Dr. Kirshon and his nurse!!! According to many doctors, he's the best truly high risk doctor in Houston. I'm not sure if he does anything besides high risk though.

Another rec for Dr. Gogola. His phone nurse, Kathy, is amazing. I really can't say enough about him, or the practice in general.

I would move to Antartica if he moved there and I was pregnant.  He delivered both of my kids and I cannot say enough good things about him.  I had very problematic pregnancies and I really think that part of the reason I have two incredible awesome kids now is because of the prenatal care I received with him.
