I've been gradually realizing over the past few days how easy breastfeeding has become, compared to where we started.
I no longer have to relatch him twice to get a better latch. I no longer have extreme pain. I no longer have to shower backwards, and I can put fabric against my nipples without wanting to cry in pain. Its no longer a hinderance when its feeding time. I used to cringe with feeding on the right side b/c it was harder for us, and now its just as easy.
I have a pump, and lately haven't been wanting to use it b/c its so much easier to BF him. Before I enjoyed the pumping to get 2 feeds a day break from BF'ing.
So to anyone who is having problems, hang in there! I am proof that it does get better, even though I didn't think it would!
Re: I can finally say BF'ing has clicked for us!
Hang in there and take it a day at a time. You're right in the thick of it. I wanted to quit so many times when I was only 2-3 weeks pp. But it gets so much easier and so much more enjoyable.
Isn't it amazing when it finally works like you thought it would in the first place! I think we do an injustice to all Moms when we say "it's natural", "it's automatic", "the baby will pop out and latch on." For a lot of us, it's not that easy. It is hard work, but the rewards are amazing.
Congrats!! And guess what - it gets even better and even easier!
Thank you for sharing... we are just at 2 weeks and it's been super challenging (nipple shields/cracked/bleeding nipples/latch issues). I thought I'd never consider formula but did because I was so overwhelmed!
I am trying to stick to it and today we had a pretty good day - a huge improvement and relief for me!! Let's hope tomorrow goes as well
I ended up supplimenting with formula that first week and felt terribly guilty about it
One, I had a big baby ( 8lbs 12oz), and those 5 drops of colostrum were not cutting it for him, and two, I was in such pain that I just needed a break.
Have you seen an LC? Mine was my savior...
