totally tmi: will I ever be able to poop pain free again?

I think I may have given myself a hemorrhoid while in labor from pushing Sad whatever is going on SUCKS! I'm 6 weeks PP today and I'm still having such a hard time going, even with stool softeners. I also almost always bleed a little bit when I poop (as much as I'm dreading it I know I'll have to bring that up at my PP appt next week) and I always have throbbing pain for hours after I go. Is anyone else still in a ton of pain back there? Anything working to relieve the pain/make going a little easier?

  • Senekot every day, oatmeal.. and tucks/dubicane ointment for when it hurts. I'm having the same issue!
  • I've been using miralax.  It is a laxative and softens things too.

  • It suck that they haven't gotten better for you yet! Definitely keep up with the stool softeners as needed, just not to the point where they make it loose (that makes them worse). Some take longer to heal. :( The internal ones hurt like hell after going even though I couldn't normally tell they were there.
  • I was having the same issue, try Smooth Move Tea by Traditional Medicines.  I don't think it's safe while breastfeeding so I drank it after LO's last feeding and pumped a bottle for her next meal.  It worked wonders!

  • I was having this issue up until right around 6 weeks and at my PP dr visit he suggested eating a lot of fruits and veggies.  since doing that for about a week, things have gotten a thousand times better.

  • I'm dealing with the same thing! It hurts every time I poop, and I bleed a little every time. At first I thought it was because of my 3rd degree tear, but I'm pretty sure it's actually hemmeroids.

I had been taking Colace twice a day since giving birth, but it wasn't enough. I just bought some Fiber One bars and plan to eat one a day-- so far they've been helping. I also bought some fiber pills, and I'm trying to drink more water.

I also got some preparation H cream and tucks pads, which seem to help with the pain and discomfort.

I hope it goes away soon!!!

  • I have been fine up until last week, then i started having all those symptoms.   I read you can get a hemorrhoid from sitting.   ause I am breastfeeding it seems like all I do is sit.  ARG!!!!!!   i've been consciously eating tons of fiber, stool softeners, and drinking tons of water.

  • Ugh.  I'm in the same boat.  Have been taking Colace (stool softener) once a day and taking benefiber at least twice a day (it dissolves great in water or juice).  I think the Benefiber helps the most--things are slightly better, but still painful.  Tucks pads also help.  My midwife said to drink more water, which I'm trying to do.

  • I have been using benefiber powder in 8 oz of water 3 times a day.  I also take the Target brand Colace--it's stool softener and laxative.  Usually it takes 2 days for it to really work and when it does...it does.

  • The first relatively pain free poop I took was on Sunday. It still hurts a little but not enough that I want to scream anymore.

Just drink lots of water and keep taking stool softeners.

  • LOL! I was asking myself the same question and am glad to see that several other women are too! I'm 6 weeks PP and it's still bad. I asked the doc to look back there during my checkup and she didn't see anything. However, I still have some blood almost every time I have a BM so this weekend I did some investigating of my own with a mirror. Bad idea, BTW! Anyway, I found a cut on the edge (I think they call it a fissure). I have gotten these before but this one is just taking a really long time to heal. I guess it's because it's just not getting a break. Every morning I have a BM and almost every morning I tear it open. Lovely, I know! I'm going to try pps suggestions and just hope that we get there. I will say, it hurts less now than it did a week ago! Good luck to you ladies with your pains in the butt!
  • I am in the same boat as you! I'm 5 weeks PP on thursday, so at my 6 week I know Ill have to tell them too ugh. I bleed almost every time I poop too, and I hate the feeling. It's as if you're trying to pass a tiny rock or something. I had some miralax because my stitches from my episiotomy ripped somehow, and that didn't even help much. You're not alone!!! I'm going to invest in some tucks and preparation H I think lol.

  • I had the same problem, and it started at 6 wks pp as well. My GP recommended stool softeners; 2 twice daily, Metamucil, increase water intake, and then I added Anusol (an ointment) to reduce inflammation. I found this helped things out.
