I had an appt for my annual pap last week at which I asked my OB what my chances for a VBAC would be. She is very supportive, as is the hospital where I would be delivering. This makes me SO happy! I was terrified that she wouldn't be supportive and I'd have to find someone else.
We are planning on TTC next month so she said we will discuss it further when I actually do get pregnant. She said as long as I am aware and comfortable with the risks then she would support me.
DH is also on board, although I think it is because he sees VBAC as less expensive than RCS. I'm just glad he isn't against VBAC.
I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions in the future and hope to PG soon!
Re: Great visit with OB last week
That's good news. Of course my complete mistrust of medical establishment sees warning signs everywhere. For instance, "we will discuss it further when I actually do get pregnant." I think a lot of the bait and switch conversations start like that. What exactly does she want to discuss? And why can't they just, "Yes, I am behind you and will help you accomplish this perfectly reasonable goal."
Not trying to worry you - I just have a "show me" attitude.
Glad your appointment went well. I had an appointment w/ my OB today too, and also asked about it. She was really receptive and said her last two patients who wanted vbacs got them. She said it's something that she always talks about with her patients, and she thinks I'd have a good chance. We won't be trying for at least a year, and I'm not even sure what I want to do when the time comes, but I was happy she was so receptive to it.
That's great!
I go to see my ob for my 6 week pp appointment and want to discuss my chances of vbac, because I absolutely don't want a RCS.
