I want to send something to thank the NICU nurses for their amazing care while DS was there. He was only there for 4 days for jaundice, but they were fantastic. He had 1 day nurse three days in a row and then a mix of night nurses. Would it be OK to send something addressed to that day nurse "and the rest of the team"? Any ideas on what to send?
Re: Thanking the NICU nurses -- ideas?
We made a collage of pictures of our time in the NICU and in the middle wrote, "thank you for all you have done! We are thankful for each of you." and brought in some cookies with it.
DD was in the NICU over 2 months ago, but I still like to take the nurses little treats. I'm dropping this off with a thank you card and current picture of DD. I really can't thank them enough, but I know they enjoy these small tokens of appreciation.
Those cookies are beautiful!! Lovely idea. This topic has been on my mind lately, too. For the OP, I would address the card to all of them...I'm not sure how your NICU goes, but here each nurse works a 12 hour shift, 3 days/week. There is a nurse who oversees them all each shift and while they're assigned to a few babies each shift they really work as a team. Some of the nurses have never had DS 'officially' but they've all done something for him, you know? When they were putting in his IV he had a fit and several nurses tried before one random nurse succeeded. She now pops her head in to see him or stops by to say hello.
What an amazing group of people...they help make every day a miracle!
