Adventurous weekend

Also kind of an FYI. There is a nasty virus blowing around with all the junk in the air. Nico has been congested with a sore throat for over a week. Got him checked out on Tuesday and given the all clear. Woke up Saturday with a 102 and was sure it was strep. Took him to pedi, again negative strep and it's a virus. About 2pm he has 106 fever. 106 fever = freaking out mommy. Take him to Dell's ER, I'm sure there has to be something. Our Dell's experience was much better this time around. We only waited about 30 minutes before being seen. Chest x-ray, urine tests, and strep again all negative. It's a virus. The Dr at Dell told us they've seen several kiddos with extremely high fevers where it's just a virus. And in true Nico form he was bouncing off the walls yesterday like nothing was wrong.

Another FYI for ya. Sticking something in your ear does not need an ER/Urgent Care visit but something in the nose does. Nico stuck a corn kernel in his ear to be funny. Let me tell you it was hilarious. Hmm

Re: Adventurous weekend

  • Boo. I thought you meant adventurous in the fun way.

Your week-end did not sound fun AT ALL.

I hope he feels better soon, and hope you get a margarita soon. :-)

  • Yikes, I'm glad he's feeling better!
  • Dude, 106 would freak ME out! Good to know since I'm back at work for 3 in a row starting tonight. Glad he's doing better. My kids get everything this year it seems. I guess this virus is probably next.

Yes, children shoving things in their noses and ears generates a lot of business for the ER! I think my favorite has been pencil erasers. Like the kid broke them off the pencils and had packed like 3 in each ear. PITA to get those suckers out =( And it appeared he may have put the 1st one in some time before the others because it was gunked up and infected. No wonder his teachers thought he wasn't paying attention in class, he couldn't hear them!!!

  • Sorry for the sucky weekend!  M had the high fever virus with no other symptoms a couple of weeks ago, as did our neighbor across the street who is 2.  Our pedi said she had been seeing it a lot.
  • Yuck.  Hope he's feeling better!
  • We had that virus. Luckily fever only up to 102 but he had a terrible cough, sore throat for a week and all tests came back negative. We're over the virus but of course it has now turned into an ear infection.
