XP : Summer Infant monitor problems

I have the Summer Infant Day & Night video monitor and starting last week it sounds like a helicopter coming through the speaker. I talked with their customer service and they said they'd send me a prepaid envelope, then I can mail the whole thing back to them and once they receive it, they'll mail me a new one. The whole process should take about 2 weeks. We've only been using the monitor since the end of December!

Has anyone else had problems with their monitor? I really don't want to be without a baby monitor for that long!

We've been using ours for a year and its totally fading - super staticky. We use it for DS whose room is downstairs so we just like to see him sometimes and for sure hear him. I'm not sure if after a year they'd replace ours so I'd see if they can send you a different model since I think this monitor is problematic.

We have a Summer Infant Slim & Secure digital video monitor, and have had problems with ours. Once it totally just froze up and didn't work in the middle of the night. The light for sound was moving, but there was no sound, so I turned on the video to find it frozen, and I ran to the nursery to find my DD in her crib bawling. After asking on the national board I found that this was not uncommon. One gal equated it to interference with her iPad.

I haven't had any "helicopter" sounds, but it does crackle from time to time. I don't trust my monitor after what happened to me, and now we leave DD's bedroom door open in case if fails again so I can hear her.

Sorry that you are having problems with it!  I really don't have any advice because we just bought the Slim and Secure but have yet to get it all set up.  I do have an extra regular baby monitor that I was just getting ready to sell but can hold off if you would like to borrow it.

Call them back and tell them that you want the replacement monitor sent first so you are not without a monitor. They will put A hold on a credit crd til you return the other. I get that helicopter sound sometimes but if I just move the monitor a little it goes away. Try moving it away from other electric devices. I think my clock radio and cell phone are problems. And sometimes just dh standing near it is a problem. Overall though I havent had bug issues. I've had one for over three years that we still use. Another we got before Cooper was born and the button at the top doesn't work now (droppe it way too many times). But otherwise it's fine. And oh wait! The helicopter sound we get is on our Sony monitor (audio only) not the video monitor. Doh.

We had issues with helicopter sound on our first summer monitor we had then we got the digital one and it kept freezing on us.(Thought it was our house since my phone also drops calls in one area of my house) We ended up getting one at Costco made by Lorex...it was only 149 (w/instant rebate) in the stores. It's a smaller screen but works and we've had no issues with static/helicopter sound or freezing.
