I had the bright idea of just packing up our stuff and moving back to CA at 4am (my usual wakeup call these days) last thursday. we talked about it and it seems like the best idea - MH has had some great phone interviews but they keep asking him when he's going to be in town - it will be much easier for him to go on interviews if he's local. and at a certain point with the baby we would have had to just wait so it just makes sense to do it now. so I'm taking a one-way flight on thursday and he's going to drive one of the cars out on friday, come back to austin next wed, get a moving truck and drive it and the other car with his dad next weekend. insanely crazy? yes. but at this point, there's no time to think - we are just doing! and in 3 days we've managed to pack up about 80% of the house.
I had my final appt with dr. S's office last week and totally broke down crying - I'm so sad that he won't be delivering my baby. but there are other great doctors out there and at this late in the game, I can't worry about it...easier said than done.
I'll need some T&P since we're going to temporarily move in with my parents. my parents are awesome but...they're still my parents. hopefully we don't kill each other. ![]()

on the plus side, I'm super excited to have my mom there 24/7 to help with the baby, as well as not having to worry about house stuff like grocery shopping, making dinner, etc. and they have a cleaning lady who comes once a week. ![]()
so add me to the list of people who no longer live in austin but still like to hang out on the board - this board has been so helpful and I'm really grateful for everyone's advice and whatnot.
Re: so, we're moving...this week
The Blog
Wow! I remember you always wanted to be close to your family when it was time to start having babies. :-)
Good luck with the move! I hope it all goes quickly and smoothly and your DH gets a job that he loves.
I fully expect a birth announcement and story on this board when he arrives.
good luck with the move! it sounds hard, but doable (that's what she said).
and i lived with my parents for seven weeks while pregnant this time. youre right, it's hard to move back in with your parents, but it's not the end of the world
moms are good at taking care of pregnant ladies.
wow!! Good for you for just jumping--sounds like the best thing to get you guys out there, get your DH a job, etc. Did you get to see Seeker at your last appt, even though it was a nurse's visit??
Good luck with everything!!!
When 3 Became 4
no, it was just a nurse visit. she tried to flag him down but he had stuff to do at the hospital...it was better, I was already getting teary-eyed at that point and it was just embarrassing. I'm sure people thought I was crying because something was wrong with the baby.
and I'll make sure to keep everyone posted on the birth of course! I feel like you've all been there for me the past 9 months...
What part of California? We are out here if you need help and are close enough
Congrats and good luck!
Ohmygosh!!! We're going to miss you
But, I think you are going to loooove having your Mom there to help out with everything.
Good luck on everything - house hunt, job hunt, etc! Make sure you stick around to tell us all about it
can i have some of your packing mojo? We don't move til August but I know there is no way I could pack up 80% of the house in 3 days!!! Impressive, especially at 34 weeks!!!
Hope everything goes well, you like your new doctor, and living with your parents for the short term is a blessing and not a curse!
wow!! and ditto, this does sound like the best move for y'all so good for you for jumping in! i hope the move/transition goes smoothly!!
i'll be thinking of you!
you are so sweet, thanks for offering! but we'll be in socal, I think you are a tad further north, correct?
and seriously ladies - you are all making me want to cry. I'm blaming the hormones. that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
cia - packing mojo coming your way! like I said, much easier when you don't have time to think about it. on that note, I need to step away from the compy...
yeah, we're on the peninsula. Good luck though.
