I'm hosting a small Easter brunch and I'm looking for a good breakfast casserole or strata recipe. If it could be made the night before, that would be even better! Anyone care to share??
You can omit the peppers if you want something more traditional.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground sausage 1 package crescent rolls 8 eggs 1 cup milk 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded 1 green pepper, chopped Dash hot sauce Garlic powder Onion powder Oregano Salt and Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Brown sausage and saute peppers with onion powder and garlic powder until soft, then set aside. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Roll out crescent roll dough and pinch the seams closed. Add sausage and pepper mixture to pan. In a large bowl, mix eggs, milk, hot sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, and cheese. Pour mixture over sausage mixture in pan. Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes.
This one is so good (and a major calorie splurge). I've made it a couple times and so has my MIL, and it always gets rave reviews. I've always made it ahead of time.
However, I use cinnamon bread instead of french bread and I don't make the praline topping, but I do make the raspberry syrup and serve with maple syrup and powdered sugar as well (I put both syrups on mine... yum)!

I also often make french toast casserole for special occasions and I use Paula Deen's recipe:

However, I use cinnamon bread instead of french bread and I don't make the praline topping, but I do make the raspberry syrup and serve with maple syrup and powdered sugar as well (I put both syrups on mine... yum)!
Delicious and super easy! Plus not too many ingredients and it has to be made the night before!
