Dumb question about TTC

Yep, you can officially add us to team TTC....I think. My recent health scare made me realize that life is too short to be scared of changes and I have finally fully jumped on to team TTC.

The one hold up is that my SIL is getting married on Oct. 10th on a cruise ship and I know you cannot be more than 23 weeks PG on a cruise. Plus DD is in the wedding and we have already paid for the cruise, so I really don't want to miss. Is there a reverse calculator out there that will tell you how many weeks you are pg based on the date you conceive? I *think* I have it figured out right that if we TTC in late May, I will be ok but I don't trust my counts.

I am really anxious to see how all of this plays out. With DD, we got married, went on our honeymoon and came back with a baby. Obviously TTC this time will be much different and to be quite honest, I don't really know much about it other than you O the week after your period. There, I said it. I know, I'm dumb. Embarrassed

Re: Dumb question about TTC

  • I just counted on a calendar, from Oct 16 (around the end of your cruise?) back 23 wks = May 8.  So, if AF came on May 8 and you conceived that cycle (~May 22), you would be 23 weeks on Oct. 16.

Clear as mud?  Surely there is an easier and more scientific way to do this... But if you have a good idea when AF would come, you would just count 23 weeks from the 1st day of that AF.

  • How about the one on Baby Gaga, that's the one I use.

It might be helpful to read the tips on TTGP, I found it pretty helpful. Also sign up for fertility friend (you can go through my chart link below if you want to get there).  It's been helpful to chart this time around.

    GL and congrats!!

Ok, that makes me feel better b/c that is right about what I thought too. AF just left, which means I should O this week. Too early. But I think we should be good to go after the next cycle.

This will really depend on your cycle. Mine is usually around 33 days so I'm O-ing around CD 18-20 (about 2 weeks after AF starts). Definitely sign up for Fertility Friend and track as much data as possible.

That's what I was going to say.  Good luck!

Ditto this. And Dos is a CD 27 baby (didn't O until day 27 after start of period...waaay after I thought I had). FF will help you keep track of all your fertile signs, even if you don't jump to temping.

    Dear Bump: You suck.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this.  I use FF, although I never temped.  I just tracked CM, meds, cervical position, used OPK's from CD12 until after I got a positive OPK (usually 4-5 days) and I logged any and all symptoms I was feeling throughout my cycles.   Based on my charts, before starting Clomid, I was not O'ing until about CD23-27, so a couple weeks after AF left.  After starting Clomid, I was O'ing on CD16-17.  Definitely check out FF, read all the lessons about charting, even if you don't want to mess with temping.  You will learn so much about the process and how to narrow down when you may be ovulating.

  • You'd count the weeks from the first day of your period of the cycle you conceive. So if you get your period May 1, then concieve May 15 ... then count 23 weeks from May 1.

And yes, I also ovulated between days 16 and 18 (day 1 being the first day of your period). I only had to track my cervical mucos, but Fertility Friend is a great tracking site.

And if you haven't read it, and I'm sure you've been recomended this a thousand times on this board, but Taking Charge of Your Fertility is really awesome!
