Chair from IKEA

Has anyone purchased a chair from IKEA for the nursery? If you have, what kind did you get and are you happy with it? DH don't want to spend a lot of money, and we like how IKEA stuff is reasonably priced.

Re: Chair from IKEA

  • We have the Paong chair in our family room & love it!! When I babysit my friends' kids or they visit, they often sit there to nurse/bottle feed...

  • we went with the poang...it fits our small space well and so far is comfortable (no baby yet)

i picked something similar to this up today on clearance at target for about $35 for a little extra storage https://www.target.com/Faux-Leather-Storage-Ottoman/dp/B003ETSM04/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton

  • I sat in every chair on he IKEA show floor during this pregnancy (and the last), and I didn't find anything that I thought would work well as a nursery chair.

I am 5' 6" tall.  Many of the chairs are too low to the ground or are incredibly hard to get out of.  Others were not tall enough in the back and offered no head support, which I find important when you are exhausted at 2 am in the morning.

You may find something that you like, though, because everyone is different.  I would suggest picking up something sort of heavy, cradling it, and attempting to get out of the chair without disturbing the item too much.

  • I tried out the Paong (sp?) chair at IKEA with the idea I would purchase it for the nursery.  I found it too low and thought it would be rough to get up/down in middle of night with baby.  We bought the Boliden chair which is very similar, cheaper, comes with a footstool, and not inclined back as far.

We bought the black/brown which matches our nursery.  The downside of the chair is that it only comes in 2 colors, while the Paong comes in a variety of patterns.
