I had it once before in pregnancy and a Zantac took care of it. Tonight, I took a Zantac, which did nothing. Sent DH out for milk, because we were out, and Tums. Drank two big glasses of milk and ate 3 extra strength Tums. It went away temporarily. I ate some toast for dinner, because I didn't feel like I could eat anything else. Now, the heartburn is back. I don't want to continue munching Tums, b/c I had a kidney stone in Sept, and am afraid that excess calcium will contribute to more stones in the future. I'm chewing gum now, b/c I heard it can help, but not so far. Guess I'll be sleeping sitting up.
Any other recs from ladies who have been having heartburn?
Re: Heartburn. :(
God yes, it has been plaguing me...What I so is suck one Tums, and then don't grab another for an hour or two. That way it lasts longer...or least it's helped for me..It doesn't make it completely go away when you do that...but it does make it less intense. Oh, and ice cream helps too.
The only other advice I can offer is be careful what you eat. Stay away from, caffeine, spicy foods, cigarettes, achoahl, acidic foods, and tomato products.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having such awful heartburn. The best thing that I have found to help is almond milk. Supposedly, there is an enzyme in almonds that helps to neutralize stomach acid. I had been drinking ridiculous amounts of milk before I started drinking almond milk, but the almond milk works much better for me, plus the vanilla almond milk from Silk tastes pretty darn good.
Good luck.
