So I'm considering getting either the Leapster Explorer or the Mobigo for my almost 4 year old son, and I'm absolutely torn on which to get. He's never really had any electronic toys like this, so the only thing I really have to go on are Amazon reviews and they are solid for both. I know the Mobigo doesn't have a stylist, but I figure I can always get the Leapfrog Scribble and Write to go along with it, if I go the Mobi route.
Also, my friends tell me that their children are always drawn to these toys in the store. My son...not so much. I figure it's because he's never had one.... Or do some children just not like electronic video games? (I guess that's not such a bad thing? lol)
If you have the Explorer or Mobi, what made you decide which one to get? And does anyone have a child who had absolutely no interest in the toy after purchasing it?
Re: Leapster Explorer vs Mobigo?
My daughter is 3 1/2 and we bought her the Mobigo for Christmas. She loves it; she enjoys playing with it and is very good at all of the games. We have the 3 that are appropriate for her age and she brings it in the car for long drives or she'll pull it out some days after school.
The Mobigo beat out the Fisher Price deal--can't remember the name, it's 1X or something or other. (It has the ability to write using a stylus and play educational/learning games.) It was similar in price to the Mobigo but I chose it because DD is learning to write at school and I didn't want the Fisher Price game teaching her to write differently than the way her teachers were showing her.
