Infertility Veterans

Just occured to me, I would have started my 3rd tri this week...

I'm not sure what this says about me, but I feel like I blocked the mc out of my head.  It's something I never think about.

I'm sure this is a defense mechanism, but not sure if it's a healthy one.  I never talk about it, almost like it never happened.  Only from seeing a PAIF ticker, did i even realize it.

Hummmm, maybe i am really losing it?

  • I doubt any of us really forget our losses, but I don't think it's good to dwell in the past either. There is no right way to mourn these things, and really, only you know if you're in the right place with it or not. Not that EDD anniversaries or other milestones are fun.

You're not losing it. The ebb and flow are part of the coping.

  • So sorry for your loss.  I think everyone deals with m/c differently; there's no right or wrong way of dealing with pg loss.  I used to remember all the due dates for my m/cs but I've had 4 of them now and I can't keep them straight.  Probably better that way anyway.

    Big hugs to you!

  • I don't think you're losing it FWIW.  Everyone deals with difficult situations differently, but I don't think there is a right way.  For me too, moving forward is the most effective coping mechanism.  There is no joy in dwelling on what could/would have been, but I also find myself thinking about milestones still, I'd be 24 wks/V-day.  I hope that when we get our BFsPs we can look back at all these sad times as the path it took to get us to our happiness.   (((hugs)))

  • I usually don't post here, because I haven't been around the IF board for so long, but I just wanted to let you know that I have been feeling the exact same way lately. I had a missed m/c at 7.5 weeks the week before you (Nov 15). For a long time I was able to mostly put it out of my head (especially since I believed that once my June 30 EDD rolled around I'd be pregnant again), but now that all the mamas expecting around that time are REALLY showing and I know I'd be in 3rd tri now, I can't help but start thinking again about what might have been.

(((hugs))) I really hope your upcoming IVF will be a success...it looks like we will probably be cycling around the same time.
