Folic Acid...

Can you take too much folic acid. I can't take regular prenatals, b/c they make me nauseated, so I take to flinstones which have 400mg in each vitamen. Then my perinatal Dr. put me on another 40mg folic acid 3 times a day. Thats a total of 2,000 mg of folic acid a day... What are ya'll's opinions. I am about to be 17 weeks..

    As a pharmacist, I can tell you that your body will just excrete the extra Folic Acid or Vitamin B9.

    My doc recommends 4000 mcg of folic acid daily for multiples. As does Dr. Luke.

    I take an additional 5000mg of folic acid per day as prescribed by my doc.

    As long as your dr told you that is what you should be taking, then sounds like its just fine. My OB put me on a 400mcg Folic acid Supp in addition to the prenatal
