41 weeks of pregnancy = France's standard

My midwife mentioned to me the other day that France is now basing EDDs on 41 weeks instead of 40.  Thought that may be encouraging to anyone (including myself!) who went past 40 weeks.

Since I was induced at 41 weeks, I don't know how long my baby/body will want this time, but I am planning to take it to 42 if need be.

Thought the ladies who've ever gone overdue would like to know about this...

Happy Friday everyone!

Re: 41 weeks of pregnancy = France's standard

  • As someone who was also induced at 41 weeks and ended up with a c/s, I find this encouraging and also frustrating.

My current doctor is OK with going to 42 weeks and a even a little beyond, assuming that we monitor the baby carefully and things are still looking good.  So it's reassuring to know I won't get the induction pressure as soon as I hit 40 weeks this time.

  • Huh. Both my babies are apparently French, ha ha ha.
    DS1 - Feb 2008

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • So, where do I have to go to get 42 weeks?  I was induced at 42 and ended with a C-section.
