Baby stuff: Sell it or keep it? A survey

H & I are about 75% sure we are "one and done" but there is still doubt and always the chance for one. That said, I'm not sure what to do with the stuff.

We could definitely use the cash in hand now from selling all the clothes, rock n play , swing etc. And we don't really have the space to keep the stuff. I also think that in 3-4 years if we revisit the idea of another this stuff will be so out of date. Not to mention, most of the stuff is super girly (not my intention) I don't mind the swing and high chair being girly but I don't think my family will think it's OK for him to wear pink sleepers!

On the other hand if we had an "oops" in the next year or two, I'd be pretty pissed to have to go out and buy the stuff.

So WWYD?

  • I'd keep some of the bigger stuff and sell the rest

  • I'd sell it if you think you are 1 and done. I got rid of the first batch of stuff but then we decided to TTC starting this summer so I have started keeping it.

  • You should keep a few items that you know you'd use for another baby.  Then get rid of the rest.

  • I would keep most of it if you have the space. Any money you get from selling stuff will be so minimal anyways. People are always getting rid of clothes, etc you would be lucky to get a dollar per outfit.
  • I have been giving away C's 0-6 clothes to 3rd tri bumpees. Keeping the other stuff til we decide if we want more kids or can trade it in towards other furniture for him.

  • I would sell it. I've already sold a bunch of J's stuff because it just takes up space and I hate hoarding things.

  • I've been told that once you get rid of your baby stuff and maternity clothes you are destined to find out you're pg shortly thereafter.  I'd keep it.  I love that my parents have most of my baby stuff.

  • We're still up in the air about having another so what I've been doing is seperating the stuff into boxes of things I really liked and then stuff I didn't really care for and then selling the stuff I don't like.  And if it turns out in a couple years that your sure you don't want to have another baby then the stuff you kept can be given to your baby when their older or maybe to a family or friend who is having a baby.

  • Keep the big stuff you love and would definitely use again, as well as anything sentimental. I love that my mom kept some of my stuff so I could pass it along to DD.

I'd sell whatever you do not absolutely love.

  • We're selling everything, then again we're also confident we're "one and done".
