WWIFD re: next step

Thanks for all the hugs last night.  I'm trying to wrap my head around everything and figure out what to do next.  I'm going to make an appt to meet with my dr next week to talk to him.  I'm thinking that I probably need to wait a cycle after a c/p to start again?  Anyone have any experience with that and know?

I can't help but think that having the lap may have done something that allowed us to get pg.  To think that we got pg the month after the lap after 2 years of nothing seems like more than a coincidence.  So I guess maybe we could try on our own and see what happens, but the thought of waiting more months to get this started just to "see what happens" sounds awful.  So would you jump right back to the IVF plan asap or try on your own for a couple months?

For some reason I feel like the "right" thing to do is wait, but really at this point I don't care how I get pregnant.  I just want it to happen as soon as possible.  We are fortunate to have insurance now, so the money isn't an issue and I have all my meds so don't have to worry about that.  I guess I know what I want to do but am seeking reassurance.  Thanks girls.

Re: WWIFD re: next step

  • I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.  These are really tough decisions.  I can tell you that after our failed IVF they wanted us to wait a month before starting again.

Depending on your age and lab results, I would lean towards trying on our own for a few months.  If you're closer to 35 or your FSH/AMH were not great, then I would continue with treatments.

    Good luck with your decision.

  • I'm so sorry you're going through this ((Hugs)).  I think it's a totally personal decision about whether you want to jump back into IVF or try on your own...is it possible that that lap allowed you to get KU, yes...but it isn't a guarantee of course.  I think it depends on whether you're emotionally ready to jump back in.  If not, it can't hurt to try on your own.

  • Maybe try on your own for a month or two and if no success, move on to IVF. That way, you feel like you are giving the natural way a chance, but not waiting too long. Also, I don't think you want to wait too long as you don't want the endo to come back.

  • ((Hugs)) I'm so sorry you are going through this.

This really reminds me of what I went through earlier this year. I had an endometrial biopsy and then right after, a surprise bfp. I am totally convinced this was not a coincedence. So I think your theory about getting a bfp right after the lap could well be true. It just doesn't make sense otherwise.

The way I looked at it was that yes, it was a great sign that I did get pregnant, but I was also resigned to the fact that IF treatments were what was needed to get a bfp. I was too drained from this process to wait more time and leave it up to chance.

Do what feels right, and don't make any decisions right away while this is all too raw.
Whatever you decide, try and remember that getting that bfp is a good sign. My RE kept telling me that, I just couldn't see it at the time, I was too wrapped up in the sadness.

Good luck, you are in my T&P's.
