Should I just replace it or can I clean it?

DD had some major vomiting episodes last night. The first was in her high chair where she threw up almost all of her dinner-apple/carrot puree. Even though DH cleaned it off really good, it still smells horrible! I can smell it from here and it's all the way across the room! Is there a better way to clean it that would help or should I just go buy a new one? (It's a Chicco Polly FWIW)

  • Can you try febreze?

  • Does it have a fabric part you can take off and throw in the washer?
  • Does the cover come off? I'd probably toss that in the wash on the gentle cycle and then let it air dry.
  • No, the chair part is vinyl. It's really the straps that hold her in that smell so bad. Those don't come off. :-(

  • When max threw up bad in his crib I had to wash the stuff2-3 times before the smell came out:(

  • You may want to get a bowl of vinegar water and try literally dunking the straps in them and kind of working the material with your hands to get it fully saturated.

  • are you sure the straps don't come off? i thought ours didn't either, but then when i investigated further, they did unlock in the back. it wasn't easy, but they did come off.

if not, the vinegar idea is a good one!

I would take it outside and put the house on it after scrubbing it with vinegar.  Then let it hang out in the sun for a little while.

Yeah I was going to suggest taking it outside for a really good cleaning. Shoot you might have to hose it off and let it dry in the sun.
  • I have that high chair and yes you can take the covers off and wash them. I do it on gentle but I do wash them. The straps are a pain to get off but they come off also. I threw them in a lingere bag and washed those.

Jack likes to suck on the straps and they get gross quickly.

  • our high chair had a vinyl-like pad (not a chicco, it was FP rainforest) and it was totally washable.  I didn't realize it until late but it washes great in wash machine!
  • I got it! I had to unscrew a bunch of stuff, but I was able to get all of the straps off and put them in the washer. Fingers crossed I can get them all back on correctly. Tongue Tied  Thanks for all your help!
