Having trouble getting back on the diet...

I want to lose at least 10 more pounds before IVF #2 in June, but I am having the hardest time getting back in the swing of hard core dieting after taking a month off from tracking calories for IVF #1. Before #1 I was eating between 1400-1600 calories a day and working out every single day. I am trying to ease back into the diet so I am trying to get between 1600-1800 calories a day and yet I still go over by 100-200 calories every day. And I haven't been able to make it to the gym everyday. So even though I have lost the IVF weight I am stalled now at the exact same weight I was before the cycle. I am just exhausted right now emotionally, which makes it really hard to resist all the treats at work right now.

Oh and I was really bad and started up my Starbucks a day habit again Embarrassed

Somebody please verbally kick my butt into getting all strict on my calories again.

Re: Having trouble getting back on the diet...

  • You have lost like a million pounds. What you have already done is so impressive. Surely you stumbled along the way before this? What did you do to get back on track?

If you didn't stay on track today, tomorrow is a new day. Every day you get a new opportunity to make good choices for yourself and your health. Weight isn't lost or gained in one day. If you beat yourself up, it will be even harder for you to get back on the wagon tomorrow.

Not to mention that even if you are eating 2000 calories a day, that's not bad at all. Especially if many of those calories come from fruits and veggies.

Just keep your end goal in mind. A healthier you means a healthier chance at having a successful pregnancy. You can do this. 10 pounds is nothing compared to what you've already done.

  • I feel your pain!!!! My RE's office has me seeing their nutritionist too, and put me and DH on a strict plan, mine is 1400 cal. DH can basically have almost double ((jealous))!! lol  but after valentine's day i've had a hard time getting back on!! he's still going, losing almost 50 lbs, i'm stuck at like 15-20 LOL  so this week i started to try getting back on track, but it's so hard!!!!

i work with little kiddies, so holidays are the hardest with all the treats, parties, etc, but i have to find my willpower LOL

good luck to you!!! maybe you'll have better willpower than me getting back on track!  :0)

  • I have a hard time with this too....

I am still trying to loose the weight from my freaking mc in NOVEMBER!!!!  I lost 100 lbs 10 yrs ago, and have kept it off ever since.  BUT i have a very hard time to buckle down, when i am slacking a bit.

This IVF, i decide i will not be liberal w my eating...it was just too hard to loose it w all of the hormones etc.  It's easier for me to just be "strict" the whole way through.

GOOD LUCK, you can do it!

I love Starbucks too...i go everyday, i have a tall bold.  I am never giving it up :)

  • I've recently lost weight due to how sick I've been. Not the healthiest but I'll take it. I would LOVE to lose 30lbs before we cycle in the fall and am having a hard time staying motivated. It's tough but you can do it!!!!! You ate an inspiration to me, you've already done so awesome. Don't beat yourself up. You can and will rock this!!! Your sucess motivates me, don't beat yourself up. You can do this. I'm cheering you on!!!!

  • Ugh...  I am having a hard time staying on track lately, too.  I am so proud of you for what you have already done!  I know you have it in you!

P.S.  DH and I just got our tax refund, so we agreed to buy an elliptical so that I can workout while I watch one-hour afternoon TV block!  I hope to be following in your footsteps soon!

  • i feel your pain--i'm stuck too! i had 60 pounds to lose after my pregnancy--the first 55 came off reasonably fast (6 months), but now i've been stuck at the same weight for a month. it's very frustrating. but i think the other girls make a good point--you should be SO proud of what you have already done! i say focus on that, and maybe it will get you going again!
