I only have a regular Boppy, but I've been propping DS in it since we came home from the hospital. The newborn lounger was not necessary for us, but the Boppy has been a lifesaver and will last us well out of the newborn stage.
We did not use ours. We had a moses basket and later the rock n play (which we still use). I actually just gave the lounger away, along with the brand new covers I had purchased for it.
We used it for LO to sleep on, in the pack-n-play, for the first month. He was a preemie, and he liked to be able to curl up in the fetal position into the curve of the lounger. A 5 weeks old, around the time of his actual due date, he had transitioned to sleeping flat or in the bouncy seat.

I was given 2 of these as a baby shower gift. I had never saw them before, but thought I should give it a try since 2 new mothers thought to buy it for me. I am so thankful that I kept one of these. My son would only sleep in the lounger until he was 6 weeks old, so it was a lifesaver for us. He is really long now (for his age), so now we prop him up in the regular Boppy (not to sleep, but to play). If I could go back, I would purchase that lounger again for sure!!
