Numb and tingling tongue/mouth

I have had a numb and tingling tongue/mouth randomly over the past few weeks.  I thought at first it was a food related allergy but now it happens even when I haven't been eating anything.  I think it is related to when I'm hungry or thirsty because as soon as I eat or drink anything it goes away.

Has anyone heard of this before or had this happen to them?  I would say it started about a month ago and happens maybe once or twice a week.  Thanks!

Re: Numb and tingling tongue/mouth

  • I would ask the doc- mine does this when my blood sugar gets low- but I have gd.. I know I am really low when I start getting that tingling feeling.

  • Thanks for your insight.  I am thinking that's all it is but I never had it with DS, I would get light headed but with this baby I never get light headed, just get the tingling feeling/numbness in my tongue.  Very odd......

  • I've never asked my OB about it, but I just wanted to tell you that you're not alone, and when I saw your post I was like, me too!!  I don't have gd, but I think I tend to get this feeling when I'm extra hungry.  So nothing really to add (sorry), but yep I have felt that too (and I don't have food allergies either, but that's exactly how I would have described it too).
