Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone on the patch or the ring for BC?

I have been having problems with my AF since M was born. I will have it for 2 weeks straight even being on the pill. I have been on 3 different kinds and my OB just gave me another kind this morning. He said if this one doesn't fix things the way they should be then he wants to try either the ring or the patch.

I know nothing about either one. Please enlighten me.

TIA.

I'm on the ring. I had a rough first month on it...but I was also 4 weeks PP so that could have been a lot to do with it, too. Now I love it. We do have to take it out for sex though, but my gyno said that was fine as long as I put it right back in.

It seems like it would be a hassle. Is it comfortable to put in? When it is in do you feel it?

  • I use the ring. Never have to take it out, except at the end of the 3 weeks. Love it. Less to remember.

My sister asked her (pregnant) OB/GYN about the patch, and the OB/GYN asked if she saw the other two pregnant women behind the front desk and explained that all 3 of them got pregnant on the patch. Apparently it comes off with just a little sweat, or even humidity.

It's easy to put in and take out, the only thing that takes time is washing your hands before you do either. I can't feel it when it's in...except during sex which is why we remove it during the deed.

I don't know about J+MS, but it only takes a few seconds to put in, it's pretty easy to do (not uncomfortable), and I don't feel it as long as it's in the right place.

My SIL was on the patch, she said it gets really dirty quickly...like an old band-aid LOL

This is what I was thinking would happen.

Sorry if these are TMI questions but I assume your doctor shows you how to put it in? How long did it take you to find the right spot?

  • I'm using the ring too.

This is my 2nd month with it and I really like it.  It's pretty dang expensive, but It's worth it.

No major horomone fluxes and putting it in and taking it out wasn't nearly as icky or difficult as I thought it would be.

  • It's been a long time; I used it for years before getting pregnant, but I don't think anyone showed me how to use it. There are drawings on the instructions, though. It didn't take more than a minute to find the right spot, if that long.
