Favorite toys for 1 yo olds

Good Morning!

I'm starting to think about what to get the girls for their birthdays.  I'm thinking of making their big gift(s) be outdoor toy(s), and then a couple of smaller presents each, probably some books and toys that will engage them up to 18 mo.  

So, what do your 12-18mo olds like to play with inside and outside?

Balls (all sizes) and Blocks.  They love both and you can use them both indoor and outdoor.  They also love any toy that they can pull or push around.

i got my kids a wagon for their first birthday and it was a great purchase. we use it all the time.

at age 1, they are young for push toys BUT they will love them soon.  you can get push toys that have activities on  them (so they can play with them now and push them later).

balls were a good idea...touch and feel books, books with flaps, books that make noise.

play kitchens are a popular first birthday gift (my kids like theirs).  oh, and shape/color sorters keep them busy for a bit.
