High-Risk Pregnancy

How long after stopping procardia did baby arrive?

For those that have taken it in previous pregnancies - why were you on it, how long, how much, and how long after stopping it did baby arrive?? If baby wasn't full term, what complications/issues did baby have?

I'm 34 weeks, and will be stopping procardia at 35/36 weeks.  I am NOT ready for baby to be here, but I don't have a lot of hope.  They will also be increasing my activity (I'm on a VERY lenient modified bedrest right now, anyways) at the same time.  Any help/advice would be wonderful!

  • i'm wondering the same thing right now.  i stop my progesterone shots week 35 as well as my procardia.  i'm worried that when i get to the day in week 36 that i normally get my shot and don't get it, that i will immediately go into labor.  i guess we will see if the drugs were actually working...

  • I stopped it at about 23 weeks. No baby. I was on it for CTX after my cerclage surgery because my UTE got very irritable. I was weaned off...
  • I did not take it the night my water broke (I think dose was at 9 or 10 and water broke at 3am), 35 weeks. I was told to stop at 35 weeks, DS was fine but I wonder if I would have taken it longer if he would have stayed put. (the day before I also got out of bed and did a load of laundry since restrictions were going to be lifted a bit the next day and I wanted to wash the new baby clothes)

I looked this up for the p17 and for most moms it was about 2 weeks later.

thanks- my dr. said his wife was on it 3 times and she had all of her babies the day after his first missed shot (yikes) but also that he has had patients go to 39/40 weeks with it.  i guess we'll see :)

  • I had it for preterm labor at 33 weeks.  I was given one dose before it was stopped because I had a horrible reaction.  I was on bedrest after that.  My son arrived perfectly healthy via induction at 40 weeks.  Just because it seems like baby wants to come out doesn't mean he or she will actually come out so soon!
