Hi ladies! I had my first beta and Progesterone tests yesterday and got my results today. My beta is at 501 and progesterone is at 11. The nurse said that the dr will repeat my beta tomorrow to see if it's doubled but he is happy with my progesterone and he doesn't need me to repeat that test. I understand from a few girls on my month board that 11 is actually on the lower end of normal. My dr is highly recommended and I've been seeing him for OB for years. I hate to think that he's wrong. Do u think 11 is too low for 4 weeks? Should I demand progesterone supplements? Is there anything natural I can do to raise this number? I'm trying not to worry because the nurse sounded very confident with the results being "good" and "normal" for early pregnancy, but I can't help it. I'm kinda freaking out here!

Re: Progesterone levels
I am no expert, but at 19 DPO I was 15.7 and told it was "normal" but a little low. They offered my a supplement, they didn't say I had to. I decided to do it anyway.
I was also having spotting, though. Have you had any spotting?

My RE "likes to see 12 or higher for non-medicated pregnancies". With my first draw, I was at 14. My second draw HCG doubled, progesterone was 11. He advised me to take supplements-- 100mg Prometrium 2x per day-- orally or vaginally. I read on the internet that some say above 9 for a viable pregnancy. Maybe your doc goes with the 9? I would talk to him about it. I always say "my friend..." (no need to mention your internet friend, which is met by raised eyebrows)
Hope your next draw hcg more then doubles. H&H!
My progesterone was 10.3 at 6 weeks with my last pregnancy and I was put on supplements.
However, there is a debate over if progesterone supplements actually do anything to maintain a pregnancy. In fact, no evidence has shown that supplements will prevent miscarriage. This might be why your Dr. didn't suggest supplements because you were still in the normal range. Some studies suggest that taking the supplements could actually prolong an impending miscarriage (which my dr. said is likely something that happened to me).
I am no dr. or scientist so I have no idea if the supplements work or not. They did not work for me, I ended up miscarrying. BUT they do work for some people. It's definitely worth a talk with your dr. He might also be waiting to see if they go up with your next draw.
I am not saying not to use them, just trying to give you a reason why he may not have suggested it right away.
Good luck! I hope your numbers go up and you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

I DEF think it's worth mentioning your concerns to your doctor and asking about prometrium BUT if he doesn't want to prescribe it you can use Natural Progesterone Cream (that you can get at any health food store or online).
I used the Emerita Progest brand and it has been great. I had an lpd (luteal phase defect, aka only 9 days between ovulating and getting my period) so I used the progesterone cream to extend my LP to allow time for implantation and have continued to use is twice a day once I got my bfp and will continue until the 2nd trimester.
My progesterone at 14dpo was 9 and was 16 at 17 dpo and around 6 weeks it was 22.
Hope that helps
Ok, I have a stupid question.
I am 5 weeks 5 days pregnant. I did my bloodwork last week at 4 weeks 6 days pregnant. I have no idea if they did a test to test my progesterone levels. Is this also HCG? Do I really have to wait until my 9 week appointment to find out what my progesterone/HCG levels are? I'm driving myself crazy because I really don't feel symptoms other than being exhausted, mild cramping, slightly sore breasts, and light nausea throughout the day until about 3:30, at which point I'm starving. This is my first pregnancy and we got pregnant right away once I went off BC. I'm really excited and happy, and really nervous and scared all at the same time. Oh, my other symptom is crying at random times.....
Progesterone is a hormone that you have to basically support the pregnancy, HCG is the growth hormone the baby gives off. HCG is what is detected by pregnancy tests. If they took your blood they probably did progesterone too. Did they not tell you anything about the blood work? Call and ask.

It's not uncommon for some Dr.'s to not do anything until anywhere between 7-12 weeks. Both of my coworkers who are currently pregnant didn't go to the Dr. till they were 12 weeks, no blood work or anything before then.
I didn't get any blood work done will I was 6 weeks last time and they didn't measure HCG, only Progesterone for some reason.
