Holy Moly... the comments have already begun!

So we told our close family last (Mom, MIL, FIL etc.) night that #2 is on the way & EVERYONE had a dumb comment.

"You do realize how babies are made?"

"How are you going to handle that?"

"Guess Conner is going to have to learn to fend for himself."

 

I want to scream. Why can't people just say, "congrats" & move on?

Does anyone have a good way to deal with the comments and rude questions?

Honestly, just get used to it. You will get lots of comments throughout your pregnancy. Then when your 2nd comes here, you will hear "wow, you must have your hands full!" approximately 400,000 times a day. lol.

A lot of times I've used the "I'd rather have my hands full than empty" (which I got from here, lol).

Just smile and nod people don't think before they speak and don't realize (or care) how negative their comments are.  You can give them snarky remarks if you want, but it doesn't solve the problem (the comment has already been made)

I don't have any advice, but I can commisserate.  We've gotten the same comments. I want to say: that does no good! I know it's going to be hard, more work, tough on our family, but it's not like I said, hey we're thinking about doing this, whatta ya think? I said we're DOING it, get on board! I need support, not to be overwhelmed by all that will be!

I'm 17 and found out when my daughter was five months that we were pregnant again. People make a lot of dumb comments because they don't stop and think about feelings or if it was them. Just keep your head up and smile. It's not impossible to have two LO running around. Good luck.

I think I got every one of those comments, as well as "Don't have any more" from my mother who still tells me that, even as recently as this past weekend.
