Potty Training question/help

Daycare took the initiative 2 weeks ago to start potty training - they asked first and I said no problem. DD will go all day without an accident while at daycare,(she goes on the potty all day) but won't have anything to do with the potty at home. DD will cry, kick or scream if I take her anywhere near the potty. Any suggestions on how to get her to like the potty at home? Daycare & I both use a ring on the toilet. She was going on the potty at home back in June & part of July without issues and then didn't want anything to do with it. Help/suggestions. TIA.

Re: Potty Training question/help

  • DS was doing well for a while at home, and then also went through a stage where he wanted nothing to do with it.  I was also due around that time, so I didn't push it with the new baby and everything.  He just started preschool last month, 2 mornings a week, and they are supposed to be potty trained.  Since he is there for such a short time (3 hours), they are very forgiving and work with him on it.  They taught him to go on a toilet without a ring or anything.  He never would've done that for me.  I guess I am not sure what you should do.  They say not to push them, but since she is doing it at school I think maybe you should push a little at home.  I did a sticker chart for Andrew and he loved it.  We bought special "Cars" stickers, and each time he peed or pooped he would pick a sticker and put it on.  If he can go the whole day without an accident I will give him a treat like a marshmellow or lollipop.  Good luck!
