Another Oh, DH.... (NIFR)

I went home yesterday for lunch, DH was cleaning the laundry room, I specifically told hom over the phone do NOT touch the laundry, I will take care of it when i get home (in 2 hours). There was a laundry basket on the floor with clean stuff to be folded. Some hung on a drying rack. An empty basket. Clothes in the washer. And some kitchen towels on the floor to be washed.

I came home. The dryer is running.

I immediately flipped it off and said, DH, what did i say. not to touch the laundry.

DH: oh i didnt know exactly what that meant.

Me: do you ever do the laundry?

DH: no, i thought i was helping.

Me: well half this stuff, including all your under armor shirts shouldnt go in the dryer

I just shook my head at him - i wasnt really mad - its was one of those, oh DH moments.

I was out of town over the weekend.  So, I haven't done all of the laundry.  MH reminded me that I needed to do a load of darks because he was on his last work uniform.  I started it last night and told him I would finish it tonight.  I'm so afraid that I will go home to find it all int he dryer tonight.  It wouldn't be the first time that he has shrunk my sweaters!

  • LOL.  For the last five years, DH has not been allowed to do anything but fold our laundry for this exact reason.

  • Yes - DH wears one everyday under his uniform.

I do get the "i only have one pair of pants left" can you do the laundry. In my head i think you are perfectly capable to do your own...but that might lead to him thinking he can do it all....and i dont want that. I might end up with a sweater that fits a doll or something!

I have been doing ours since we moved in together...i went down and visited him in the academy only to find he had put his brand new white v-nec shirts in with black socks. The shirts turned grey. I said no way are you doing the laundry when we move in together.

I will ONLY have him throw the towels in the dryer. thats it.

  • DH is very good at following laundry directions when they are explicitly spelled out for him.  Since it takes me forever to create these directions it's easier to just do the laundry myself :)
