Newbie Question

I had my FET yesterday and I woke up with cramps this morning. I had my first IVF last month and the same thing happened-I had cramps throughout the entire 2ww. I know progesterone can cause cramping, but since the cramping started right after my transfer I don't think the progesterone is causing it. Is there anything you can take to stop the cramps? I'm worried that the cramps will prevent my embies from implanting. Thanks!

Re: Newbie Question

  • i don't think there is anything you can take.

are you on a steroid (medrol, dexamethasone, prednisone)?  typically they are started before transfer, RE's differ on how long before transfer to start it.

some ladies who experience cramping after ET find that adding a steroid helps calm uterus and they don't experience the cramping.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

No, they didn't give me a prescription for a steroid. I just left a message and hopefully a nurse will call me back soon and I'm going to ask her if she can prescribe me something. Thanks!

  • I just spoke with a nurse who said that some cramping is normal after a fresh cycle because of all the stimulation, but that I shouldn't have as much cramping after a FET. She told me to take a Vicodin and she is going to speak with the RE and will call me back. I am so stressed!! I really hope this cramping will not affect implantation. I feel like crap.
