Got it down to two...

I have been wanting to post this question for a while but knowing how brutally honest this board is it has taken me a while.  I think I am ready to hear your thoughts because we are stuck!

DH and I are stuck between two versions of our girls name:

Lucy Anna - or - Lucianna (or Lucyanna) Kay

Thanks for your thoughts and advice!

Re: Got it down to two...

  • Afterthought: she will be called Lucy no matter what... Lucy and Anna are grandmothers while Kay is my mom's MN... Our last name is one syllable

  • I really like the name Lucy ;-) I prefer for the names to be separated probably because I'm more used to that rather than Lucianna.

  • I have a Niece Lucy and she is awesome, and loves her name.  Lucianna sounds latino to me.  If you are I'd say go for that, if not, separate it.

This!  I understand the reasoning for the unique spelling but I would still spell it this way.

  • I get that they both sound the same but for some reason, Lucy Anna is a bit strange to me. I much prefer Luciana!

  • Definitely spell it Lucianna or separate the 2 completely :) I would go with Lucianna Kay if I was you :) GL!
  • Lucianna is great, but if she'll go by Lucy, go for Lucy Anna.

I agree with this. Knew a beautiful Italian girl named Luciana and the name fit her so well.

  • Lucy Anna. The simplicity is much more attractive.

Though on second thought, I'm confused. Are you considering naming her either a double name or Luciana, middle name Kay regardless? Because that changes my vote.

If it's just Lucy Anna vs Luciana Kay = Lucy Anna wins.

If it's Lucy Anna Kay vs. Luciana Kay = Luciana Kay wins.

  • Love Luciana (or your spelling - Lucianna); it's unique and really classic. Also, since your last name is one syllable (mine, too) longer first names work well.

  • I like both Lucy and Luciana, but I think there may be a pronunciation difference here.  Luciana is pronounced loo-see-ahh-na.  Your spelling makes me think that you want it pronounced loo-see-aa (like in apple) -na.  If this is the way you want Lucianna pronounced, then I vote for Lucy.

All of this. Depends on if Kay is in regardless.
