Trying to Get Pregnant

Cervical position??

Does anyone here also chart their cervical position? I feel like this one is the hardest one to master. I started charting mid-cycle. I am at CD24. My cycles are normally 28 days but I think it may be a bit longer this time because I ovulated sometime after CD16. I am definitely in the LP as my temps are high.

So earlier in the week I felt my cervical position and it felt low and soft for a couple of days (around CD20-22). Today, on CD24, I go to feel it and I can barely find it. It is so high up there, definitely higher than before. I've read that that's normally a sign of ovulation but it can't be in this case. Also, the tip feels hard to me and not soft. Any thoughts?

Re: Cervical position??

  • Sorry, I am no expert on this one.  I tried checking CP for a couple of days and got sick of shoving my fingers so far up my vag.

  • its hard to get to know!! CP depends on the time of day too, so make sure you check it the same time everyday. First thing in the AM or before bed are usually not dependable times.

A high, soft, open cervix is a sign of fertility - meaning that its a sign that you will probably ovulate soon. It does not mean you will definitely ovulate and it does not indicate when you will ovulate. Both your CM and CP are just responding to the increase in estrogen that also grows the egg follicles.

IMO, (and in my experience) if its high but hard and closed, it might be due to the time of day and not a reaction from your hormones. I typically check mine in the early afternoon and I've found that time to be the best "reading".

GL. Again I know its hard to figure it all out.

  • I check my CP, it really isn't that hard. You have to check it at the same time everyday & in the same position. Once you have done it for a few cycles it's a piece of cake.

  • Be sure to do it at the same time(s) each day. After a cycle or two you will probably figure out the nuances. The first couples months I tried, I couldn't tell. Now, the idea of me not being able to tell the difference seems laughable- there is no mistaking a high day versus a low day. I guess I just needed to get used to it and get consistant!

  • Thanks for the comments. I know I haven't been checking the same time every day so that may be the key. I think it probably will get easier although I'm not sure about the open/closed difference. Even in the week I've been doing it I've started to notice differences. The first few times I was thinking "how the heck and I going to notice any change?" Now that there has been a change, I definitely know how soft/hard and high/low feels.
